Rode by a dying RX-8 yesterday. That "KKA-KA-KLANK" Noise that followed when he revved the engine was probably the saddest thing I'd heard all day.

Probably a guy that didn't know how to maintain a rotary and that have this phrase stamped in his head "You gotta over rev the engine braw, to take all the carbon out brah! Trust me! Beat that engine and she'll be like new!" Except that they do that and forget the other stuff that needs to be check, like oil...
